“European car manufacturers are partnering with payment firms and non-traditional players to embed in-car payments into the driving experience:” new yStats.com report.
Europe's automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation as car owners increasingly adopt in-car payments for services. Manufacturers are integrating voice assistant technology to facilitate ordering and payment for drive-through and other services. Toll payments are evolving with the European Electronic Toll Service, while contactless parking payment services are becoming widespread through initiatives like Apcoa's offerings in 13 European countries.
European car manufacturers are teaming up with payment firms and unconventional entities like parking lots and gas stations to integrate in-car payments seamlessly. Mercedes Benz Group and Visa launched MercedesPay, enabling in-car parking payments across 14 European countries and 80,000 lots. In Germany, some users are even employing biometric authentication for added convenience.
A recent survey in Germany indicates strong interest in utilizing car displays for in-car payments, particularly for parking (74%) and refueling (72%). However, respondents express concerns about payment security and data privacy. Despite these worries, car manufacturers are dedicated to offering secure and user-friendly solutions, revolutionizing the driving experience and mobility.
