Mostly suitability of the light source depends on the type of endoscope used. The cold light source can also be called a light projector and LED light source. The light which is focused on fiber optic or liquid light guide cable that connects to an endoscope which further transmits light through its own integral fiber optics and then it projects light into inspection cavity. Different light sources are halogen, Xenon, Sol-Arc, LED (light emitting diode) and incandescent lamps.
