The global isoxaflutole market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.19%, reaching a market size of US$354.231 million in 2030 from US$275.025 million in 2025.
Isoxaflutole, a synthetic isoxazole molecule, is used as a herbicide. It inhibits the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), which prevents pigment production and causes bleaching of the growing tissues of the target plants. Isoxaflutole regulates a broad range of bleaching, developing, or emerging weeds following pesticide absorption via the root system.
Isoxaflutole is an herbicide that inhibits the activity of ALS, also known as AHAS, in susceptible plant species. It is taken up by the leaves and stems of the target weeds when spray is applied. It travels throughout the vascular system of the plant as it translocates. Isoxaflutole selectively targets and inhibits the ALS enzyme once it is within the plant. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has categorized isoxaflutole as one of the reduced-risk herbicides.
Isoxaflutole market drivers
Moreover, isoxaflutole is the perfect solution for this purpose in the regions, including various countries in the Asia Pacific, where raising crop yield is essential due to rising food scarcity. This is because it has little or no harm to the environment or any modern or efficient farming techniques. In the agricultural sector, these isoxaflutoles are used to optimize crop yield in countries where corn and soybeans are often consumed or in those that use intensive farming methods.
Isoxaflutole market geographical outlook
There will be strong growth in the Asia Pacific isoxaflutole market primarily due to the increasing agricultural activity and the need for good herbicides. Agriculture in countries like China, India, and Southeast Asia is rising to effectively feed the growing population demands. For example, the agricultural production of maize in India, according to the government, in the period of 2023-2024, is 35.67 million tons.
Apart from this, broadleaf weeds and grasses have huge impacts on crop yield, so isoxaflutole is very effective in these areas due to its ability in controlling diverse species of broadleaf weeds and grasses. As the need for increased agricultural production grows, farmers in the Asia Pacific region increasingly use herbicides like isoxaflutole to preserve crops like maize and soybeans, which are extensively farmed throughout the region.
Another motivating aspect is increased understanding and implementation of sophisticated agriculture methods. ADB announced plans to invest at least $14 billion in a comprehensive support program from 2022 to 2025 to alleviate a rising food crisis in the Asia Pacific and improve long-term food security by strengthening food systems to withstand the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Moreover, the resistance towards herbicides and the coming of age of modern agriculture means that the Asia Pacific countries are phasing out conventional weed control mechanisms and replacing them with highly efficient chemical weed control solutions. Population growth and advancements in genetically modified crops, especially maize, have also helped fuel the demand for isoxaflutole.
