Worldwide PC Market Shares, 2024 and 4Q24: PC Market Holds Steady at 1.1% Growth

From a vendor perspective, Lenovo finished the calendar year in first place for the sixth consecutive year, extending its lead over HP Inc. by 100 basis points. HP Inc. and Dell remained firmly second and third, respectively. Lenovo and HP Inc. fielded positive growth, while Dell saw market contractions. Much of this can be attributed to inventory replenishment opportunities in the channel that tend to favor HP Inc. and Lenovo. Apple, ASUS, Acer, and Huawei all gained share in the prior year, while holding onto the next four positions.This IDC study presents the worldwide PC market shares for 2024 and 4Q24."The past year was really about unfulfilled promise," states Linn Huang, research vice president, Devices and Displays at IDC. "With so many older PCs due for refresh and so many business PCs still running Windows 10, 2024 should have been a bigger year. Hopefully, that just spells a much larger 2025."
