This IDC Market Perspective discusses the five key trends in 2025 for enterprise client computing platforms. AI everywhere is the headline trend in IT, but it is only one of several key trends which continue to shape the enterprise client platform (including client virtualization) in 2025. Others include an increasingly regional outlook for technology vendors, a rebalancing of the virtualization portfolio toward virtual applications in the near term, and a shift away from specialist resources to solutions being part of the broader enterprise platform."Enterprise client computing platforms have expanded beyond their traditional role of providing virtualized applications and desktops," said Shannon Kalvar, research director, IT Service Management and Client Virtualization, IDC. "As the critical point of access for digital enterprises, these platforms must adapt both to the incoming uplift in AI for applications and operations as well as the increased complexity they bring."
