The India aluminum beverage can market size is expected to reach USD 767.1 million by 2030, registering a CAGR of 10.9% from 2025 to 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Increasing demand and consumption of energy and sports drinks is one of the key factors driving market growth.
Aluminum beverage cans are containers used to hold alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and energy drinks among others. Aluminum sheet coil is the key raw material used in the manufacturing of aluminum beverage cans and it is one of the finest value-added downstream products in the entire aluminum value chain. Therefore, prices of aluminum sheet coil depend on Aluminum London Metal Exchange (LME) prices as well as premiums (above LME) charged, which includes conversion cost and profit margins at each stage of the value chain.
Alcoholic beverages dominated the market, accounting for the largest revenue share of 56.9% in 2024. This growth is attributed to the increasing disposable income among consumers has led to a rising demand for premium and craft alcoholic drinks, particularly among younger demographics who view alcohol consumption as part of socializing. One of the major factors driving the segment in the last decade has been increasing sale of beer (in aluminum beverage cans) through off-premise retail channels such as grocery, mass merchandisers, and convenience stores. These stores have been featuring more canned beer offerings than those offered by bars and restaurants (on-premise retailing). Despite the presence of a large consumer base, the Indian beer industry has been witnessing lower levels of beer consumption, which can be attributed to restrictions on the supply of beer (alcohol) in certain states of the country.
Heavy influx of international and domestic tourists in Goa and Maharashtra has created a massive potential for craft beer market in western India. This is backed by increasing popularity of craft beer owing to its unique taste and inclusion of healthy ingredients. Aggressive expansion of major beer brands has offered an opportunity for aluminum beverage can manufacturers to increase their scale of operation in the western part of India. However, the alcoholic beverages segment is restrained by increasing restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcohol in this region.
