Participation in consumer lawn care can vary greatly throughout the US and is influenced by factors such as location, income level, and work arrangements. Recently, the shift towards remote work has reshaped how many Americans engage with their outdoor spaces. Those working from home find themselves with extra time and opportunity to tend to their lawns, resulting in an increase in lawn maintenance activities.
Lawn Care Consumer Insights examines trends in the US regarding lawn care activity. Survey data display historical trends and consumer sentiment back to 2011, including examination of the pandemic-era for 2020-2022 and the return to "normal" along with the impacts of the recent inflation-driven economy into 2024. Survey responses in this study reveal consumer trends in lawn care, including doing lawn care, hiring a service, buying consumables, and owning lawn care equipment. Additionally, consumer insights into home ownership and work-from-home trends as well as changes in wellbeing that could affect ability to or interest in doing their own lawn care. Consumer opinions on the topics above are analyzed by gender, age group, region, household income, and homeownership status.
