This research analyzes the demand for countertops in the United States, taking into account the surface material, installation area, and market. The demand for countertops is at the fabricator level, where the material is shaped into a countertop, and includes all surface materials, edging, and backsplashes. The study presents historical data from 2013, 2018, and 2023, forecasts for 2028 and 2033, and annual data from 2020 to 2027 in square feet and US dollars.
The study provides market sizes and market shares at the level of countertop material suppliers. The materials considered in this report encompass engineered stone, laminates, natural stone, solid surface and other cast polymers (such as cultured marble and cultured onyx), tile and other small volume materials.
For the purpose of this study, tiles made from metal and glass are included in the tile segment. Natural stone tiles, generally sold in thin one-foot squares, differ from stone slabs, which are much thicker and heavier, and have grout lines.
The study categorizes countertop products by area of installation, including kitchen countertops, bathroom countertops, and other countertops used in various areas.
The major market segments analyzed are residential buildings and commercial buildings. Commercial buildings are further segmented into office and retail buildings, lodging, institutional buildings, industrial buildings, and other commercial buildings that use countertops. Markets are also divided by new and remodeling applications.
Integrated sinks were included in the demand if they featured functional counter space on either side of the sink (only the counter space itself was included in the countertop estimate - the sink itself was excluded). If the integrated sink only featured a small edge or lip, the entire integrated sink was excluded.
